What's wrong with it is that corny motivational crap like that is an insult to an employee's intelligence and does nothing to resolve the real issue if there trully is a moral problem.

Typical employer motivational crap. One job I had they handed out the "Who moved the cheese" book in an effort to get everyone to embrace changes in the company. I feel being frank and up front with your employees is always better than these "motivation campaigns" that are almost always a failure and cost money that could be better spent. |

I'm not very good at this, that's why I choose a job where I don't have to deal directly with the customer all day. But when I do have direct contact with
the customer would I follow (basically) these guidelines? Hell yes. It's how business works and it will result in a better relationship with the people who choose to do business with you. Make them feel good, like you actually give a shit. I have worked in too many places where people complained constantly and never missed an opportunity to bring others down, it's like an infection in a company and does not make for a good place to work. How much money you make is a separate issue except they aren't going to hand out raises to people who treat their customers with contempt or overly involve them in their personal problems. |

I'm with you on the money that could be better spent though, instead of hiring an outside company or creating a program in a department this used to be called common sense. I generally see human resources as people happily detached from the "real world". |
