The wife and I are looking into purchasing a 7.3 Diesel excursion to pack all the kids in as well as a hunting/camping/BOV. the one we found is on "37 with a procomp lift and loaded interior. What kind of maintenence goes into these things? How many miles can one expect before needing major components replaced, etc etc. I have never been a big for fan but after towing a "28 ft enclosed race car trailor with car, spares, fuel and anything and everything to go out for a weekend of racing I was really impressed. Can anyone give me some personal experiences? |

I've owned a few 7.3 PSD's but no Excursions, yet.
7.3 is a horse, I have 165k so far on my F550. Replaced return lines on the HP oil pump, crank position sensor, and clamps/rubber tubes off of the turbo......that's it. I would think the far bigger concern would be driveline wear since it has 37's on it.... |

I am unfamiliar with lifted rigs and what kinds of problems come with them? More strain to turn the tires results in more drive line binding and strain. If it was regeared it should be gtg. |

The lift can put strain on these and cause failure at the worst possible moment. |
