I have an old Dell B130 with a pair of 512s in the slots now. The cards are DDR2 PC4200. Can I upgrade with a single 2GB card and keep one of the 512's or does PC4200 RAM need to be replaced in pairs?
Also can faster RAM be used in place of the PC4200 without causing problems? Even with the mixed speeds? And lastly, can the removed DDR2 card be used in an ancient DDR PC2700 machine? I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks! |

Go to the dell website and enter the service tag on your laptop. It will tell you all about your PC and how much RAM it can handle. Most motherboards require that RAM be symmetrical in size. ETA: http://support.dell.com/support/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen |
