I like polo shirts. In fact, my fondness for them may be slightly unnatural. I have a shitload of them, in almost every color there is, and probably 7 or 8 different brands. But it's getting hard to find a good quality shirt anymore.
My best shirt is a Tommy that I've had for a couple of years. It's made from long cotton fibers, so it doesn't pill and it has almost zero fuzz. It's obviously 100% cotton (as it says on the label); you can tell by the texture of the fabric, the way that it breathes and because it doesn't stretch. I also have a very good one that I got from Banana Republic a few years ago. It's easily as good quality as the Tommy. But they don't have them any more; the ones they have now have some ugly-ass logo. I'm cheap, so I'm always looking for polos on sale. Macy's had some for $20 a while ago. They said 100% cotton and looked good, so I bought one. It was crap, and there is no way it was all cotton. It was hot, it stretched a LOT, and it was constantly attracting lint. Then they had some Polo brand for half off. This was too good a deal to pass up, plus I have to admit that Polo has some nice colors. I bought 3. They were also crap. They're made from very short fibers, and pill badly. I can't believe what they charge for these POS shirts with a Polo logo. I found some at Eddie Bauer that looked OK and are made from good fabric, but the stitching sucks. They pucker at the top of the shoulder and around the buttons. I've lost faith in EB; I won't buy anything else there since their buyers obviously either don't know a crappily made product when they see it or don't care. I bought another Tommy the other day. The fibers are obviously shorter than the other one I have. It has a lot of fuzz and feels much smoother; it's also much stretchier. And nowhere does it say what it's made of. Aren't all textiles sold in the US required to have a label with the composition? WTF? Does anybody know who still makes a good quality polo? I've given up trying to find a cheap one; I'll pay good money if I could just find a good quality shirt. |

Go to all the golf pro shops in your area......it's time for them to unload the summer stuff. If it's not on sale already, ask them about the upcoming tourist season....
Also, by your post count, you should know better than to use the word "pucker" in a post. Especially in GD. |

I wear polos when working. Never thought much about them other than to make sure I get colors and sizes that properly conceal my carry gun. Pockets are nice since I have to carry around both computer and driving glasses, but other than that, it's a shirt, I wear them till they get holes in them and then throw them out. |
