So I live in an apartment complex and there's a lot of other gateways to connect to, and I'm using one of the unsecured ones now.

So I have a Dell laptop with integrated wifi. At one point it stopped being able to connect to my wireless router, but the thing is, is that I can connect to any other networks. I ended up reformatting this laptop and it worked fine up until recently. It's doing the same thing again. If I try to connect to my network, it says it cant connect but my option changes from "connect" to "Disconnect". It's like it my computer thinks its connected but it isn't. Wtf is going on here? I thought maybe the ol' lady fucked something up the first time, but now that its doing it again I don't know what is up. Any ideas?

If there are a lot of other wifi networks, try changing the channel on your router.  You may be getting intereference.

I have a Linksys router. How do I change the channel? In the main router settings?

Those will be in wireless settings under "Channel" and "SSID".

In other news SECURE YOUR SHIT, right now some pedophile is setting up a meeting using your internet with an underage girl and when she disappears they will trace the convos on her computer to your IP address!  // oh and thats after he buys a house in your name with the info he stole from you.

In the security section "enable MAC address verification" AFTER you add your laptops MAC address, and also enable WPA2 encryption so they can't gank your credit card numbers.
