I set up my email using mozilla thunderbird and all works well except I can't send messages.
I can receive messages, compose new, etc...etc...
I have been told that it's tough to set up thunderbird to use MSN email.
The error message reads as follows.....

"Send message error
The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server smtp.live.com failed."

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions ?

It is an MSN specific problem not thunderbird,  you need to check their recommended settings.

Log in to MSN via your browser, click help, and search for "POP 3 settings"

Also check to see if the username and password are required to be sent as plain text or as encrypted text.

As a disclaimer, I would just change to a yahoo or gmail account but too many people have the msn address for me.
I'll try your suggestions, thanks.
