Not sure if this is a dupe, my wife just emailed me the link.

By Lewis Kamb Seattle Times staff reporter A man with a gun and two other men kicked in the door of an apartment in North Seattle early today, terrorizing two residents there before fleeing with computers and a gun, Seattle police said. Police got the call about the home invasion-robbery in the 5400 block of Meridian Avenue North about 1:10 a.m., Seattle police spokeswoman Det. Reneé Witt said. "The two victims were in their apartment when three unknown male suspects kicked the door in," Witt said. One of the victims grabbed a gun to confront the suspects, one of whom also had a gun, Witt said. "A standoff ensued and the victim fearing for his life dropped his firearm and complied with the suspects," she said. A second victim, who the suspects had on the floor, "was kicked in the face by one of the suspects during the incident," Witt added. The three robbers moved quickly, taking two laptop computers and the victim's handgun before fleeing out of the back of the apartment, Witt said. They were last seen heading east on North 55th Street. Seattle police K-9 units conducted a search of the area, Witt said, but couldn't find the robbers this morning. Descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available, Witt said. |

Reminds me of the time I bought that cappucino machine from my father before it went to the yard sale. I had no idea how to use it, and figured I would never bother to find out ![]() This made me laugh. You also put it in a way that a native of this area would understand. I will have to use that on my coworkers. There are a lot of these kick in the door invasions in this area. That is why I teach my wife to shoot to kill, worry about the stained floor later. She is a good shot, except she is short and her natural point of aim seems to be in the crotch area. |

He's lucky he didn't get shot with his own gun.
For as big a proponent of the 2A as I am, I nonetheless feel there ARE some people who are better off not owning a gun, because they simply lack the mindset necessary to defend themselves in a critical situation. Whenever a non-gun owner asks me advice about buying a gun for defense, I always ask them "Are you prepared to kill someone to defend yourself or a loved one?" If I detect the slightest hesitation, I recommend they go home and think about it some more. |

Sounds like the resident was one of those typical city liberals that bought a gun and either never shot it, didn't have it loaded, or just didn't buy the ammo because all he really wanted was a false sense of security. Quoted:
First thing you need is a self preservation mindset, then a gun, then training. These. |

I've been hearing about apartment invasions a lot lately, and some people question my pistol on my hip when I'm at home.

This. A guy my mom works with is exactly the same way. He was telling her how he bought an assault rifle and 1000 rounds from some guy "just in case" and he's never fired it. When she relates the story back to me, being the good arfcomer that I am, I immediately start grilling her on what type of rifle it is. She, knowing that id want to know, grilled him for details before hand. He couldn't remember the name but it's.... Black Folds in half and shoots 22s.
Sub-2000 that takes glock 22 mags immediately pops into my head. Later she talks to him and he confirms that's what it is. So now I'm wondering if this guys got a .40s&w Sub-2000 sitting in his closet with a couple boxes of .22lr. |

"A standoff ensued and the victim fearing for his life dropped his firearm and complied with the suspects," she said. WOW! I could understand if the burglars had gotten to the victims before they could get to their gun, but refusing to pull the trigger when you have your gun, are in a standoff and fearing for you life? What cowardice! |
