Does anyone know what kind of boots the armed army or marines wear?
I know its summer now, but it got way cold last  winter.  I don't need pac-boots (made for sub zero temps).

Something comfy and reliable.

My Danner's are by far my favorite boot. They also have several other military models as well.

This is what we were issued.  Pretty decent boots, comfy. Run about a size to size and a half big. I wear a 13 running shoe, but 11.5 in those ;)

These are what are issued prior to heading to Afghanistan now

A variety of boots are issued.

Most issue boots are made by Bates or Welco; sometimes Belleville.

Most soldiers prefer "aftermarket" boots, like Danner, Belleville, Oakley, etc. I certainly do, they're lighter and more comfortable.

I thnk this is the pair i wear;
Danner

I have a problem with sweaty feet and don't have any problem with sweating with these! I have come inside and my shirt and shorts are soaked with sweat and take my boots off and my socks were moist not wet.

Plus they are on sale for $160.00

Not sure about the armed Army, but the un-armed Army wears Timberland's.

Sorry, I've been up for way to long

What are you using the boots for, Hunting, hiking? And where are you going to wear them?

This will probably be used for aroudn town, hiking. and hunting, now that I think about it.

Danner's seems to be the popular choice.   I'll probably go that route.

Thanks for input guys.

I sent an email asking Danner about the combat hiker.  The reply said they don't sell them to civilians because they are under military contract.

How did this guy write a review on them, if they aren't for sale?

If you want hiking/hunting boots, you'd probably be better off getting actual hiking or hunting boots.  I've got a few pairs of the Belleville and Wellco desert issue and standard issue boots, and while they might work great for combat, they'd be absolute shit for long hikes or hunting in cold weather (not to mention, none of them are waterproof out of the box).  You can get damned good Merrel/North Face/Rocky boots that are actually designed for hiking and hunting for less than what you'll likely wind up paying for a set of the Army-issue boots.

I bought a pair thinking the same thing you were - using them for hiking and hunting - but as soon as I got them and put a little foot time in them, I knew they wouldn't work for that.

I cant begin to tell you how inacurate that is.

Call them back, ask for someone else.

Danner is an excellent company. They have backed up thier boots 110% with me. All things being equal, they are the only boots I will buy.
