I'm watching the news show, "Downrange", on the Pentagon Channel and the host, PO Liz Murray has about 6 rows of ribbons. The thing that caught my eye, though, is that she has the Purple Heart with TWO bronze oak leaf clusters!!! WTF???

Liz has been a member of the United States Navy for the past nine years. She is a Mass Communication Specialist First Class Petty Officer who has been stations in Japan, Guam and Washington D.C.

I have no idea.

I was in a unit around 1990 where our E-4 admin guy (aka "Titless WAF") had more ribbons than a MSgt in the same unit who was a Vietnam veteran.

All it takes is submitting the right paperwork, a la John Kerry.

Her highest appears to be the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, followed by the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

I don't see a Purple Heart on there. I do see a Navy "E" ribbon with 3 awards. By precedence the Purple Heart would be in the top row, unless all those other ribbons are these Medal of Honor, Navy Cross,Defense Distinguished Service Medal,Navy Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Navy & Marine Corps Medal, Bronze Star Medal.
