Would you guys crawl under this car?
Maybe some jackstands as a back up?

No need for jack stands, those would hold it up fine.

well, I wouldn't want the vehicle to catch on fire while up on a foam block stand...

A jack stand hopefully doesn't need shear strength as most of the force in normal use is downward.

There could be an issue with sideloading when your fat brother in law leans on the car

I'd have no problems using them for holding a car up at a show.  Working underneath it while it was on foam blocks, not so much.  That's a little more trusting than I like to be.

then again I had a jack break while I was putting tire chains once. Luckily my hands were on top of the wheel.  I was a lot more colorful with my language at the time then I usually was around my parents.  If I only need that much height I'll drive one side of the car up on the curb.

Dumb question. How do you get the wheels up on there?

I'd be OK without jackstands, but I'd be under and out mighty quick-like. I generally use jackstands any time I am ever under a vehicle.

So you jack the car up, then put these under there?

Significantly detracts from the usefulness

How do you normally get jack stands under a car?

If they are foam, then no.

A sensible solid plastic would be okay.  I would like to see a bigger footprint for these stands if a person is to be underneath.

If they are hollow steel weldments, the answer is no for those, too.  I can't tell what material is used from that ad.

Why were you using a jack to put on tire chaines?

I get 4 of those magic foam animal pills from the walmart vending machine
then I put them in front of the tires & drive on top

then i pour a full redbull on each one &

the redbull makes the foam grow 87 million times

now i have my car lifted on top of magic pony unicorns!

It helps to have helpers pour the redbull at the same time so you don't flip your car over

I was hoping you could drive on them and inflate them like those foam animals you pour water on

I actually forgot we were talking about jack stands, I was just thinking of the jack itself.

What about these is an advantage over jack stands?

I'd like them more if they were more trapezoidal ie the base was wider than the top.

they look a little "tippy" to me

This

But I'd use 'em.  I always leave the floor jack under there anyway, just resting on the crossmember/axle just in case.

I would imagine that it is the same material they have started using for extrication cribbing.

If so I would have no problem working under it
