| I've been kicking around ideas for a 6-8 page research paper in my psych class. It has to be something related to psychology. I have been looking into Combat Stress on veterans. If anyone have a topic or idea to flesh out my topic then I would appreciate it! |

How about Bob Rehahn and his interests?

6-8 is WOEFULLY INADEQUATE
Narrow down a little bit there, stud. Maybe look at one specific area, like TBI affecting personality/memory (very interesting), PTSD from killer's remorse, shell shock from fobbits who had a mortar go off within 400m of them... your shotgun blast there would be an entire volume of books with ease |

I have written several A papers like this. Here are a few titles from my senior year. Some of my titles Understanding Stress, Behavior, and Motivation Understanding Self-actualization and the Hierarchy of Needs Analysis and History of the Army Alpha Examination (This was one of the first tests of its kind and was very important to shaping pscyhology.) |

Some of my titles
Understanding Stress, Behavior, and Motivation Understanding Self-actualization and the Hierarchy of Needs Analysis and History of the Army Alpha Examination (This was one of the first tests of its kind and was very important to shaping pscyhology.) Could you elaborate a bit onto what they discussed? I would search the net but I have no idea where to start with those topics, |

Army Alpha Paper Abstract, then I went into detail about the test. The Army Examination Alpha was the first group administered intelligence test. Many individuals considered the fathers of intelligence testing took part in developing this exam. A. Binet, T. Simon, R. M. Yerkes, W.V. Bingham, H. H. Goddard, A. S. Otis, T. H. Haines, L. M. Terman, F. L. Wells, and G. M. Whippie were responsible in some part of the development of this test. The Army Alpha was responsible for testing the millions of recruits enlisting or drafted into World War I upon American entry in the war. The tests were designed to ease in the logistics of placing recruits in appropriate positions. In addition to having the claim as being the first group intelligence tests, the Army Examination Alpha had many shortcomings and was criticized by many. However, the evaluations of these initial tests contributed greatly to the further development in the testing and assessment procedures moderns psychologist use to insure reliability and validity. Understanding Self-actualization and the Hierarchy of Needs was on the each level of the Pyramid of needs, peak experiences, and a brief history Abraham Maslows contributions and research methods. Understanding Stress, Behavior, and Motivation Abstract, I then went into detail about how stress relates to motivation, behavior etc Stress can be brought on by many factors both good and bad, and can encompass mental, physiological, anatomical, or physical stimuli to ones welfare. Stress is a regular part of life, and it helps define many of the behaviors essential to our normal functioning. In addition, each individual experiences stress in different ways. A stressful event for one person may not always be a stressful event for another. This paper will provide a brief overview of these stress related principles, as well as provide insight into the nature in how stress affects our lives and how we cope with it. |

Interesting topics. I think I may go ahead and do a general "combat" stress paper. Any good ideas for a general thesis and some sources that could guide my research? |

I had the local librarian try to order it but she had "funding limitations."

The use of media hype and novelty to stifle thought in the general population.
The use of celebrity to steer public opinion. Using patriotism to shame people into doing the "right " thing How a simple accident can be turned into a public interest story and block real news from airing on the news. How to scoop a story while congress is in session to draw attention away from them. Useing "MEME'S" to train people to behave as you wish. Accentuaiting the importance of sports, or popular television shows to waste the attention span of the poulace. I could go on but I need a beer. |
| I propose that you examine the mentality that allows people to believe themselves immune from harm. I seem to recall reading an article (it wasn't a paper, the author simply didn't have enough anecdotal evidence to cite that would have made it a paper) asserting that the average gun owner is paranoid, trying to compensate for feelings of inadequacy, etc. I would like to see a paper written that examines the opposite extreme: The mentality that self-defense is unnecessary, despite evidence to the contrary. |

In a paper regarding combat stress, Do I need to capitalize Combat Stress and Military Veterans/Veterans. Also is Depression capitalized. I would assume these all are capitalized, but I just want to make sure. Also my title is Understanding Combat Stress, should I change it?
