I’ve been trying to get in shape and walk 5 miles most every night. While out walking both my hands and my left elbow swell up pretty bad. About 30 to 45 minutes after I get home the swelling seems to subside.
WTF is going on here?

You might want to get your heart checked.

Sounds like maybe a venous return issue.

Had any other symptoms?

Dizziness, blurred vision, numbness...    nything?

If your body is not accustom to it these things happen.

On the other hand I/we know nothing else about you, history, current drugs, surgeries...

May want to get it checked out.

What about your ankles and feet?  Normally the most dependant swell first, it's odd that your hands and elbow (1?) swell?  Definitely sounds like you've got a blockage somewhere in return rather than a heart condition?  Any idea what your blood pressure is?  With a heart condition such as congestive heart failure, normally you'll have swelling in 1 of 2 places or in extreme cases both.  1) is pedal edema at your feet and lower legs 2) is your lungs which will cause productive cough and sometimes a frothy bloody cough.  If you develop either of these conditions or dizziness, I would go to the ER regardless of insurance.  How old are you?

This may not be indicative of a problem.  If you swing you arms as you walk, inertia (or centrifugal force - not a real force, I know) can cause the blood to not go up the arms as efficiently and collect in the hands.  This happens to me, and heart-wise, I've recently been given an A+ by a doc.

The elbow, OTOH, don't know...

I do have tennis elbow(x2) and my blood pressure is kind of high.Never had any heart problems. My feet swell a little bit to but not as bad as my hands. It's starting to weird me out.

I have a friend who is overweight after a few kids.
She started walking regularly and a few weeks later had numbness in her hands and feet.
Doc said it was a vitamin B12 deficiency.
I hope she saw a real doctor.
