A local BBQ place is going to be selling this at the Tanana Valley State Fair this year. Applewood/Hickory smoked bacon, seasoned with sea salt and dipped in dark chocolate. They're calling them "Pork Dippers," if I recall correctly. Supposed to be rather good, despite impressions one might have based on the initial description.
Has anyone tried something like this? |

I tried it the other evening on the way home. One of the guys on the train owns a candy-shop,
and his wife had made up a batch for him to bring along. (We get to be test-victims for a lot of her "We're trying this. What do you think?" deals. It wasn't bad. More chewy than I expected, but wasn't bad. Can't say that I'd go out of my way to get it again, but if it's offered, I'd try another piece. |

Try it with bacon for that extra indulgence. Long live the King! Peanut Butter BLT We use fresh cut bacon and toasted bread to give this sandwich great flavor and texture. |

I tracked down the seller of the chocolate dipped bacon. It was actually rather good, though a bit strange. I think I could have done without the sea salt added.
I think instead of getting it chilled as it was at the fair, I would rather get the bacon hot and crisp and then get a cup of the melted chocolate to dip it in right before consumption. |
