| What is in those little snapper things that makes them explode on impact? You know, the ones that blow up when you throw them at the ground...... |
|
Snap'n Pops are snappers are paper cups containing fine gravel. This fine gravel is covered with Silver Fulminate or Potassium Chlorate, or both. Either of these chemicals is very sensitive to shock and will explode easily. When you throw the snapper, the gravel bangs together causing a great deal of friction inside the snapper, more than enough to ignite the Silver Fulminate. Once the fulminate ignites, it sets off the rest of the powder and "Boom". |
