I went to order a Beamshot 1000 from Optics Planet when I was back in Israel. I placed the order in Israel so it'd be waiting for me when I got home. They refused to sell to me on the basis that I may be supplying terrorists with a super tacticool beamshot laser which are A) carried by vendors in Israel, B) no big fucking deal, and C) was never intended for export.
Here's the e-mail logs. Greetings from OpticsPlanet.com! Thank you for ordering: ================================================================== Beamshot 1000 Laser Sights $54.95 Beamshot M Laser Sight / Flashlight Mount Systems $23.00 ================================================================== We apologize, but your order has temporarily been placed on hold. Certain elements of your order indicate that your item(s) will be exported. Prior to shipping your order, we need to verify that the ordered item(s) will not be leaving the United States without the valid authorization or export license issued by the U.S. Government. Please answer the following questions to aid in processing your order: 1) Who is the end user of the product(s) you have ordered? 2) What is the end use of the product(s) you have ordered? 3) Where is the final destination of the product(s) you have ordered? (Please respond with a city and country.) Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Once we receive this information, we will continue processing your order. Best Regards, OpticsPlanet.com Risk Management Team My response: 1) I am the end user of this product. I am an American citizen. I placed the order while visiting outside of the country, and I will return to the United States tomorrow.
2) The end use of the product is personal use. I do not plan on selling it in the near future. 3) The final destination of the product is Haverford, PA, my home, as per the shipping address. This product will not be leaving the US. I placed the order while outside the US and I will be boarding a flight home tomorrow morning. Thanks. When I got home, I sent them another e-mail... Hello,
I'm back in the US now. Please respond to let me know when the order has been cleared. Thanks, Their response: Hello Brandon, Thank you for your prompt response. You stated that the items will not be sold in the near future, are you intending to sell this item at all? And will these products be exported anywhere with you seeing how you travel often. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please reply a soon as possible so that we can move forward with your order. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact us. Best regards, Norberto V. Risk Management Team So I said... The items will not be sold in the near future, if at all. I'm in the US to stay. They will not be exported, as I don't travel with firearms and would have no use for these items in the countries to which I travel.
Thank you, To which they replied... Hello Brandon,
Thank you for your prompt response. Unfortunately due to the restrictions imposed by the government in regards to this item and since you reinstate the fact that the item will potentially be sold to a third party we are forced to cancel your order. Your credit card HAS NOT been charged. For detailed description of our International Policy and Export Restrictions, please visit http://www.opticsplanet.net/our-policy.html#international. We apologize for any inconvenience that this cancellation may cause you. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact us. Best regards, Norberto V. Risk Management Team FFFFUUUUUUU!!!! Noberto, what the fuck is that, like Nobama!? I sent them this... I never stated once that this item would be sold to a third party, but I will take my business elsewhere. I'm sure that another company, that hires employees who can read, would be happy to receive my business. Thank you.
-brandon It had originally said: FUCK YOU IN THE EAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I left that part out. Oh yeah: I bladed at 45 degrees, shouted "YOU WILL SHIP MY BEAMSHOT!", drew the gun Al Pacino used in heat, and grabbed Lootie to use as a human shield as I emptied a magazine of Extreme Shock Counter Terrorist ammunition into the cieling. |

Why do people always feel the need to expand on their answers? If you would have just answered the question then there probably wouldn't have been a problem. Why even throw in "I do not plan on selling it in the near future"? What does that have to do with anything?

what tipped them off? IP addy from Israel? Most likely. I mean...my sharks are in PA, and the frickin' lasers aren't much good without sharks, so... Oh well. They're out $70 of business and Beamshot sold to me at half price. So that means twice as many sharks... |

If you had just answered the questions they asked and no more, you would have your items now. I answered the questions 1/2/3 and that's it. Oh well, fuck them, factory direct for half price. Ended up much better than if they'd sold to me anyway, so I should be sending a "thank you" letter. |

The correct answer to this, "The end use of this product is for my own personal use". Why mention anything at all about selling it? If I were the one tasked with investigating your order that last sentence would have set off bells with me as well. |

FWIW, I lost a lot of faith in Optics Planet when I was shopping for a holster for an upcoming class. They had the Safailand 6280 at a great price, so I called and asked if they had it for a G21 (plain, no lights) Black STX finish. They said no problem. I asked if I could pick it up, since I was going to be less than 10 minutes from their "world HQ" in Northbrook - it's actually in the same business park that an old employer was in. They said no, as they didn't actually have the item in stock. I asked when the expected delivery date was. They replied that they weren't sure - my order would be included in a larger bulk order that would be made once the "required minimum" was reached. Could be days, could be weeks. ![]() At that point I didn't care that they wouldn't charge my card until the actual order was placed - I needed a holster, not a promise. I went elsewhere and got a better price and item-in-hand within 5 days. |

Quoted: I have had a similar experience. I have ordered 3 different items on 3 different occasions only to get an email a day later that the items were on backorder with no indication of when they would be back in stock. I now shop other places.FWIW, I lost a lot of faith in Optics Planet when I was shopping for a holster for an upcoming class. They gave you every opportunity to say "this will never be resold". You didn't do that, so they covered their ass. ![]() This....... How hard would it have been to just respond: "I am purchasing this for my own personal use only and not for resale". |

you screwed yourself on this deal... don't blame opticsplanet for due diligence a) you ordered the product while overseas to ship to a US address b) you said you weren't planning to sell in the near future when NO ONE asked if you planned on selling it c) when clarifying if you planned on selling it, you made a statement which basically said I don't plan on selling it now, but i might |
