Okay, I have a little problem with IE 8.0 that I need some help with. (And no "Use Foxfire" comments needed, please. When I open the "Reply" box to a post and type a response, once it gets to the bottom of the box, the sentences start to jump up and down every time I hit a key. And, when I quit typing, the last thing typed is below the bottom of the box and I have to scroll down to read it. As soon as I type again, it starts bouncing up and down again. It is enough to drive me crazy. It doesn't just happen at AR15.com, but in other forums as well, so it is not an AR15.com problem. Anyone know how to fix this? |

ETA: Ha, I can't even get IE to load a page right now while Firefox shows that my interwebs are working. |

There's a downlevel compatibility mode available to IE8.0 users, you'll see a broken page icon in the right corner of the address bar click on it and follow the directions. The page will reload and will work as advertised. HTH. See, I knew you guys could and would help. Many thanks. |

IE is buggy as all hell. I know you dont want to be told to use Firefox, but this is like complaining that your Jennings .380 jams and you dont want to trade in on a Glock. This textbox thing is by far the most visible IE bug I've ever seen, and it can be quickly worked around. |

Being an old guy, I don't like "change" much and resisted switching from IE 7.0 as long as I could. But except for familiarity issues, this is the only big problem I've seen with 8.0. Thanks for the help. |

Quoted: For what its worth, I have switched "old folks" to Firefox several times and never had a complaint. I usually just change the link for "The Internet" on the desktop to launch Firefox. Firefox is really designed to be an easy switch for IE users.Quoted: Quoted: IE is buggy as all hell. One more question, about Outlook Express this time.
Since switching to 8.0, I am having a problem with Outlook Express. In the past, if someone sent me a message that had an internet link in it, all I had to do was to click on it and it opened up the browser and went to the site. Now, if I click on it, it does nothing. I have to copy the link and paste it in the browser after I open it. Is there a fix for this? |

I haven't used Outlook in years though... |

Is there a fix for this? yes, but that's a built in safety feature to prevent you from getting linked to malware tools>internet options>advanced>make sure the boxes are checked/unchecked properly it's probably the built in protection from IE 8 that's fucking you over. i'd suggest turning off Pop up blocker and other protection stuff one at a time until the problem is resolved. i know IE 7 has new protection stuff that will prevent your links, vids, etc to not function properly in some cases, whereas older versions only had the pop up blocker. for what it's worth, i run IE 6 with no firewall, antivirus, pop up blocker or anything and have never had a problem. but then again i know what to click on, and what not to...and how to fix it if it fucks up |

Maybe right click and see what the options are? I haven't used Outlook in years though... Tried that, no joy. But thanks for trying. What happens if you hold down your CTRL key when hovering over the link? Does it change the pointer and allow you to click to follow the link? |

Okay, I tried that and clicked the right mouse button and it worked. You guys are amazing. Many thanks. |
