[ARCHIVED THREAD] - How to remove rust and small pit marks

My 22 rifle has some rust and small pit marks on the barrel. How can I remove them or at least shine it up like new?

The pits, not much, short of a buffing and reblue.....but the small rust can be removed with ultra fine steel wool, like OOOO grade, and Hoppe's #9.

i use a brass wool scrubbing pad and touch up with a little cold blueing. seems to work well for me. If it is deep pitting i sometimes use a little naval jelly just to make sure i got it all. Not sure it that is good for the finish or not but i figure if it deep pitting it already messed up anyway.
