Something wierd happened last night on my PC. Woke up to use the bathroom. As I walked by it there was a screen up that was not the desktop screen. I'm computer illiterate so bear with me please. Screen was kind of like a start up screen or DOS screen. All black background with white print on it. Before I could get my eyes focused to read what it was it kind of paused then went to the regular start up screen. Don't know if vibration from me walking made it change or what. Any ideas? Am I being hacked?

Sounds like you might have your puter set to automatically download and install updates, or your power went out.  Either way, it had just restarted and there are two possibility.

It was just POSTing

or

It was disk checking because the power went out and windows didn't shut down properly.

Microsoft had an emergency security patch covering 31 issues Tuesday, so that is most likely.

Yes, your computer is certainly not part of my botnet.  Oh, and you may want to empty some of that stuff from the recycle bin before the Mrs. sees it.
