If they are responsible with money and their health, they can get by comfortably on $15 a day. Ha, even with every meal coming from the over-priced fast food combo meals at the student union, I came out at 10 bucks a day. ![]() Congrats on living on a tight student's budget. I know it's tough b/c I had friends that did it too. One friend I would have accompany me to the burger condiments bar after i bought my burger, and I'd let him load up on my condiements (lettuce, tomato, onions, ketchup & mayo to make ranch dressing - He'd make himself a huge salad. Awesome!!! And that's why I said "comfortably". I don't believe that there is an absolute amount that should be spent every day, especially if they are a good grocerty shopper. I DO believe in allowing some lattitude for cushion money to spend on less essentials like beer and an ocasional study date with a person of interest. Just being realistic. Seriously, anyone can survive on much less, but who's looking to just survivie. If you want your kid to focus on his primary goals (studying), then he shouldn't have to worry too much about having enough money for food. So $15 is a good marker. It's more than enough for just food, and not enough to give you the high life, but you wont be lacking in date money or beer money with your buds. It's all about budgeting and balancing of your prioritites. Tell your kid to get a job and that should help YOU a lot. |
