These are two shotguns that belong to my friend's grandfather. He snapped the pics and then sent them to me, however he forgot to look at what was stamped on the barrel. His grandfather lives some distance away so it is not easy to just stop over and take a look at the guns.

Any help would be much appreciated!

The first one appears to be a riot model of the winchester model 1897. the second one I don't have a clue about-sorry.

Yeah I'm going with that for the top one, and also have no idea on the bottom one, sorry.

Youll have to find and decypher the makers marks for the double I bet.

I agree on the first one,

I only ID I can give on the second one is: "Side-by-side that needs a good scrubbing"

Good luck

The first one is a takedown model 97 Winchester. How long is the bbl? What's the letter above the serial number? The cartridge stops are still screwed as opposed to buttons so it a sorta early gun, probably a D model.

Any markings on the double?

I've got a similar 1897 take-down model.  It should still be shootable, just gotta be really careful when you de-cock them.  The hammer has a way of getting away from you.

Can't help on the s x s except that some of those are not safe to shoot- some having Damascus barrels etc.

The hammers on the SxS are the same ones found on early L.C. Smiths.

EDIT - The spurs are different.

He doesn't remember how long the BBL was on the Winchester, and he said there were markings on the SxS however he doesn't remember them.

Could you elaborate on what to look for as far as the cartridge stops?  Also, does that change the value any?
