After thinking about it I had to go check but I realized that I use a different eye depending on what I am shooting. I use my right eye for scoped rifles, archery, and darts. I use my left eye for pistols and shotguns. Anyone else switch back and forth?
Also I am able to shoot with both eyes open when using a scope. ETA I am right handed. |
| Right handed and left eye dominant. Found this out years ago when in the pipeline to fly Apaches (right eye reticle). I did something else and never flew them, so it was never a problem for me, and I think it was determined not to be much of an issue. I still shoot rifles left handed, though. |

My girlfriend is the same way. I'm not a instructor but she wants me to teach her how to shoot the Black Rifle. Somebody told me to get a pirate patch for her and make her shoot right handed. Don't know about that. Anyone got any ideas? Quoted: Also right handed and left eye dominant ... enough training will overcome this. |

I'm left handed, but right eye dominant. I have to use my right eye, too, because if I close the right, and aim with the left, and then switch to right again, it's aiming off into fuck knows where. ETA: I'm talking handgun. Rifle, I shoot right handed, so it's not a problem.

I shoot both eyes open on every thing, but I am right hand/right eye dominant. I can also shoot weak side and transition easily, but I was taught to shoot both open as a child. My B-I-L is left hand/right eye dominant. He had problems with shooting scoped weapons, so I helping him switch dominance. Its all about training. Your mind will adapt quickly, and actually build new neural pathways in the process. this is a good thing... stimulates brain growth... like brushing your teeth with your non-dominant hand (it's harder than you think). |
