GE model  # 110.60622990  about 7 or 8 years old.  Just thoroughly cleaned all lint out of the inside of the dryer(vent is 6 inches long and not clogged) last fall.
While in "auto dry(low heat)" cycle, the dryer shuts off before the clothes are dry(about 15 minutes).  After starting it again, the dryer runs for only a few minutes before shutting off again.
Dryer works fine on "high heat" timed setting, no problems at all except we don't want to dry everything on HIGH heat setting.
Any ideas?

I'm no appliance repairman, but I would look at the sensor that tells the dryer that the clothes are dry.
Where it is on your particular model, I have no idea.

We were having sort of the same issue and found the vent line needed cleaning. It was full of lint and a huge fire hazard!

Check it out unless it's direct to the outside/short as heck.

It looks like that dryer has a sensor electrode that senses when the clothes are dry.  There is probably an issue with that sensor, the wiring associated with that sensor, or the control that the sensor inputs to.

sounds like one of the 2 sensors are hitting "overheated" mode..you could spend the money/time pissing with it...but used dryers are cheap as fuck so swap it out

cloged vent line {btw it should be cleaned every 2 to 3 years for 15foot run 3 or less people living in house more or less depending on your household} or moisture pickup sensor.use the timer the sensor is just a feel good thing anyway .you will get the time thing after a while .

Maybe your Temp. High Limit switch. Usually located near the heating element. It turns the heat element on and off during the drying cycle. Could also be "thermostatic switch". If any of these things are causing it, usually a symptom of another problem...
