I knew it wasn't that great and better than leaving my shit unsecured but holy crap.
I finally took the cover off the inside of the door and it's nothing more than a glorified storage cabinet. The mechanism was binding and needed a liitle bit of lube. I gotta get a real safe and yes I saw the videos of the guys prying cheap safes open but damn. I'm looking at a Zanotti. At least I can get the beast inside. Any other assemble on-site safes out there that don't require a construction crew? |

Quoted: Yes, I've seen it, too. And its mostly bogus. In order for that scenario;I knew it wasn't that great and better than leaving my shit unsecured but holy crap. I gotta get a real safe and yes I saw the videos of the guys prying cheap safes open but damn. I'm looking at a Zanotti. At least I can get the beast inside. Any other assemble on-site safes out there that don't require a construction crew? - they would have to already know that you have a safe to be bringing along the massive prybars. Burglars are not going to carry that kind equipment - they would first have to work to knock it over, then get it in an area big enough to get the leverage the need to use the massive prybars. Burglars don't want to be spending that much time doing the job, its much easier to grab jewelry, electronics, ect and get out As for "assemble on-site"; I have two safes (purchased separately) that I picked up with my truck and, using a hand truck, got them into my living room by myself. And with the help of a couple buddies, we worked them up the stairs into my bedroom on the second story. ![]() |

I sold and own a zanotti
been happy with it even moved it myself once with a little 2 wheel cart ( the take down is nice ) my only complaint is they use a no name lock and i have seen a couple fail leaving the owner locked out of the safe that said i have also seen a safe with a S&G lock fail the same way |
| I have a budget safe (Sentinel) in my apt for right now. I beefed up the security, and it is pretty tough. I drilled along all the seams and thru-bolted each, added a very heavy duty hasp and padlock and reinforced the door with some angle aluminum. Whole thing is bolted to the wall studs and weighs about 400-500 lbs fully loaded. Added some hooks for hanging stuff and taplites, and overall I'm satisfied for now. It would be time-consuming and noisy as hell to get in it, and I'm betting that time and noise aren't the friends of thieves. I plan on getting a better safe when I get a house. |
