Ok, well my dad owns some properties one of which is a restaurant in the shittiest part of KCMO. I was there briefly today to help the manager with some computer issues and he told me that the Subway up the street was robbed at gunpoint on Sunday. Well he didn't think much of it until today when the group of homeless people that hang around in the parking lot had moved down the street to a gas station. He expressed that maybe they had got wind of something going down and moved so they wouldn't be interviewed by the police if something did happen. I have to go back tomorrow and will probably be there till dark (backlog of sales reports out the wazoo), I know to be cautious since my dad used to run some restaurants him self in the 80's and has been robbed at gun point many times and once exchanged fire with his mossberg 500. Now here is the scary part, I don't have a CCW (19 years old) and OC is not permitted in KCMO. I carry a folder for utilitarian purposes but I don't think it would be useful in a situation involving a gun.

Here is a copy of the MO Castle Doctrine as passed. Per my reading, businesses are not included, but there may be any number of other laws that do cover you.
Also, I may have read it incorrectly. Link |
