I thought he said he felt old and creaky from manual labor, not "assulted by the government"?

I'm 26.

This weekend, I dug out a 200 sqft area and laid a brick & mortar border on Sat.  On Sunday, I leveled it out, packed 50 cuft of stone, then gravel, then sand (by hand with a tamp, f^(k that vibrating thing) and laid a pallet and a half (appx. 3000 pounds) of slate for a patio.

Slight soreness in the backs of my legs from lifting everything over and over.

Sucks to be you.

My understanding of things is that if you keep it up like that, it'll suck to be you in 14 years.

I'm 40.  Falls are much more painful now.  I fell out of bed and landed flat on the floor the other morning.  I have one of those high beds about 3 feet off the floor.  I landed nice and flat too.  I figure I got another 20 or so years before stuff starts to shatter during those types of falls.

no kidding.  i messed up my back at about your age doing a similar project.  turned the wrong way with a piece of 12" cmu, and that was it.  31 now, and has never fully healed.  every now in then it will jump up and bite me, and i am hunched over for a week or so.  last time i sneezed while pouring the milk in my wheaties, and that was all it took.

I'll be 44 in just a few days and frankly I'm resisting the effect of ageing quite well so far.  I'm stronger than I've ever been

before in my life and I'm as flexible and limber now as when I was 25.

Part of my secret is creatine.   Use it and you have more energy, you don't tire out as quickly or as easily, you don't feel the

need to take naps after hard work, and you recover very quickly from exercise and exertion.   I would highly recommend it.

I also believe in the benefits of DHEA, though some people don't.

Isn't that a fact!  Hell when I was in my 20's and 30's I could keep up with anyone doing manual labor.  Now doing a good days work damn near kills me.

Getting older may indeed suck, but NOT getting older sucks way worse, IMHO.

Just sayin'.

Harsh, man.

I've been considering it for some time now.  It's not a matter of can't afford but just not sure that I "fit in" 'round these parts.

I shoot my guns in competition, and that's the boring, stand-in-one-place-for-2-hours type, not the I-just-blew-through-50-rounds-in-2-minutes type.  In fact, I have exactly one gun that's not built for a specific competition and that's the home defense gun.  One gun, one place, all the time and all that.  Everything else is for a certain event.  One air pistol, one free pistol, one sport pistol...  I never got into shotgun, but then I'm still young.  My parents are getting into shooting clays so I'd imagine my wife and I will be invited at some point this summer.

I have an AR, but it's a National Match rifle that would be of limited effectiveness should the S ever HTF.  Maybe if the zombies stand veeeeerry still at 600 yards...

I don't even have a huge ammo stash.  I've got a basement full of brass, but not much in the way of ammo ready to go.  I guess I've got a few bricks of .22 but I didn't think that counted.  I don't even own any ammo cans.

Do you know that I don't own a single optic that can be mounted on a firearm?  Not a one.  Not even a WalMart $30 ADCO special.  I don't have any foregrips or two-point slings and I only have 2-3 mags for each gun I own.  I don't have a plate carrier, no chest rig and my solution to a spare mag is to shove it in my pocket.  I'm a terrible ARFCOMmer.

I'm in the military, reserves, but I'm an engineer in the Navy.  It's like, y'all go do your thing, I'll keep the lights on and the showers warm for when you get back from killing people.  I AM the REMF, though I guess just by default.  Not that I can't shoot, just that there's little call for firefights in engine rooms.  And you know what?  I'm cool with that.  If Tommy Lee Jones ever shows up on my ship, I'm just going to SCRAM and GTFO.  That's my plan.  Sh*t, I don't even have camouflage clothing!  All my uniforms are either white, khaki or coveralls.

I'm an NRA member, but only because it gets me entry to competitions.  Most of the time I don't even read the magazine.

I DO have excellent taste in alcoholic beverages and I homebrew like a motherf^(ker, so maybe that's worth some cred?  I just finished a DFH Burton Baton for the evening and it was awesome.

But all in all, I don't really feel like I fit in.  You're those gun guys on the internet.  I'm just me.

I suppose after this post I'll practically have to buy a membership, but...  we'll see.

Perhaps.
