And I can't sleep.

Tomorrow I interview for a new position at my work. Job stays pretty much the same but it comes with a 20% base pay increase and moves me to the top bracket of my field. I've been with the company 9 years now and in this division 2. Moved from rock bottom in this division to now hopefully top in 2 years which is unheard of. We have people that have been entry level for 10 years and counting. If that gives you an idea of how hard it is to move up.

Any suggestions for what to do/say at the interview?

Confidence is key!  Get a good night's sleep, be prepared, and remember that you, without a shadow of doubt are THE shit.  There is no reason they shouldn't pick you up ASAP.

Let us know how it goes!

Deep breathe before you go in and just be yourself when you're in there.

Remember that an interview is all about selling yourself, and nobody knows that product better than you.

Ask questions and act inquisitive, don't badmouth anyone, give examples to back up your strengths, tell them you'll add to the firms profitability.

Good luck on the interview.

God knows how hard it is to get one right now.

In your mind, convince yourself that you already have the job.  Be confident, but not cocky.  The duality is hard to pull off, but you will be successful if you can.

Like PP said, do NOT be negative.  About anything.  You are a positive, energetic, knowledgeable, dependable, friendly, outgoing person.... if only for the two hours it takes to secure the job.

The job is already yours to lose.  They wouldn't be wasting their time if they didn't think you were qualified.  Don't volunteer negative or controversial information about yourself.  It's not confession time.   90% of the time, unsuccessful applicants talk themselves out of a job.  I once had an applicant for a pilot job tell me that he had rolled a large twin engine airplane. That showed bad judgement on two different levels.  1.) Doing the illegal maneuver, and 2.) Blabbing about it.    At that point, I couldn't have hired him even if I had wanted to.

Relax.  A 20% raise isn't that much anyway, after the Government takes their additional cut.

This is a .gov job. Profit doesn't enter into the equation. But the rest of your advice is very good thank you!
