I was buying some pepper spray and saw this. $30.

I was thinking this might be good for when a carjacker/ mugger already has drawn on you and you need a few extra seconds to draw your own pistol. It also thought it would be good for locations where "weapons" are not allowed but not against the law (like work or amusement parks). Do you guys think this is a stupid gimmick or a good idea?

THE STUNNING RINGâ„¢ pepper spray ring is designed to be worn on either hand on the 1st (index) or 2nd finger preferably your dominant hand, with the thumb (or other hand if necessary) accessible to operate the safety latch and depress the trigger. The pepper spray comes out of the front of the ring next to the stone. A safety slide locks the trigger button in place until you are ready to fire. You only get one shot, but its a good one. It takes about 2 seconds to empty the ring and have to re-load.
Black Onyx Stone set in silver or gold plated pepper spray ring.
Made to be used for close range use, about 2 to 3 feet.
"The Stunning" ring is a great companion for anyone looking for a personal protection device that is readily available without effort! No hassles, No fumbling in a purse or pockets. Just take the safety off and spray. As a martial artist and a personal protection Instructor I understand that most assaults happen in the close quarter range and that is where "The Stunning" will give you the time you need to either escape or defend yourself! I use it and more importantly my wife uses it! I highly recommend "The Stunning" for anyone interested in having that extra edge for personal protection and personal security!

Looks like a good idea, but I'd be afraid  to wear one. I can guarantee you with my luck I would somehow spray that crap all over myself.

I like it. It could mean the difference between life and death when that extra second is needed.

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!

Thanks all for the replies. I think you are all right, it is a good idea but will be poorly designed/manufactured. If I buy one I'll post ARR.

I have been OC'd and I've used it several times in the field. The one common denominator, every time that I have used it, is that I always wished that I had a bigger canister.

It is a toy, nothing more. The distance that would work at is near contact. There is not enough payload to be very effective either. I personally would not go with anything less than a 3 ounce can. You would be better serve using your car keys as a weapon.
