RC Downtown Stabbing Ruled As Self Defense Posts The Pennington County state's attorney has decided not to file charges against a Rapid City man accused in a stabbing death last week. Twenty-three year-old Joshua Red Cloud was stabbed in the neck April 20 and died that night. Prosecutors refuse to identify the man who stabbed Red Cloud but said he acted in self-defense. Authorities say three men got into a fight and two received stab wounds. Police arrested and jailed 33-year-old Durell Rooks, who has been charged with assault. Authorities say Rooks and Red Cloud asked the other man for money and that when he refused, the man was jumped from behind. According to reports, the unidentified man is a chef and was carrying knives that he used in self-defense. 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved. Material may not be redistributed. |
