| I have advance stages of BRD. Just got the upper in for my 4th AR and noticed something weird. My Bushy Patrolman M4 has a longer barrel than my new CMMG m4 barrel. Why is this? I love the length of the CMMG ALOT BETTER. The CMMG has the YHM phantom factory installed. Are there 2 different m4 barrels? |
|
The Bushie probably has a 16 inch barrel with the flashhider screwed onto that....
The CMMG is probably a 14.5 with the Phantom permanently attached ... making the overall length 16". I like the 14.5 or 14.7 inch barrels with permanently attached muzzle devices a lot better as well. |

Maybe one is 14.5" and the other is 16" ? Manufacturers will sometimes call it an "M4" barrel because it has a cutout for an M203, regardless of length. Is the 14.5 legal then? It is if you have a permanently attached muzzle device that brings the barrel length to at least 16", or you have a tax stamp. |

This is the first time I have noticed this, makes the Bushy look weird now. |

If it's permanently attached, or on an AR pistol, SBR, or MG. Yea its got the attached Phantom and I measured it and its a tad over 16. |

Haven't shot it much, but they seem to shoot the same. It just looks good, makes the long barrel on my M4 bushy look weird to me. I still love my Bushy though. |

Well its multiplying like some damn Gremlins. Got an AR then decided I needed a 20 inch upper, then hell now I need a lower, then hell I need to build one myself, then damn that was easy repeat process. Then 15 mags are needed for each, 2k rounds are required per gun for zombie hords. And so it begins. |

Pinned muzzle devices are cool if you are building an M4gery or you want a barrel shorter than 16" without paying for a tax stamp, but when you need to take your flash hider off it's a pain in the ass.
I would rather have a 16" upper that I can take apart myself, that alone is worth the extra 1.5" to me. |
