Great gun. I have the SP101 in .357 mag with 3 1/16" barrel and one of these https://www.vanraymond.com/productcart/pc/catalog/S&W686P.jpg I picked up 6 years ago NIB for $400. Those were the days. I can't wait , I almost got a 308 POF lower while i was there but it was 550 maybe next time. |
My 4" version.
And changing out the springs will make a huge difference in the trigger pull. I used a set of Wilson Combat springs in mine. |

Sorry but thats ALOT @ 650!! $30 under list price is pretty good when you consider all the dealers in the Bay Area are charging list price or more due to scarcities. Ammo is the real killer. I stocked up on .38 Special and .357 mag between 2002-2005 when the prices were low (like $6/50 for UMC .38 Special 130gr. FMJ). I have a stockpile of several thousand rounds each, but I'm afraid to shoot it.
.357 mag is becoming a reloader's round very fast. |

I usually use Canyon in Martinez because they are close, but I think I'll check that place out in Pacifica that I hear good things about. |

REALLY DO SOME REAL used reasearch......Sorry but thats ALOT @ 650!! Maybe NIB is your way but think of resale if you paid 650NIB youd be lucky for a 250.00 resale in needy times. While i understand your point, I don't buy used never have never will. As far as resale it will never happen. also when i said research i ment quality of the pistol not the price. I AM CALIFORNIA NOTHING IS CHEAP HERE. |

I have a SP101 snubbie and a 4-inch GP100. Now if only my God-damn 38/357 dies would show up I'd be in business and not hostage to the almost total lack of non-boutique SD ammo and shotshell ammo.
You should love your gun and so what if you paid a little more. Keep it forever, you'll never regret it. |

Recoil is not bad at all with most standard factory .357 loads. But with handloads loaded with a max charge of H110... |

Forgot to mention, the one thing I didn't like about the GP100 was the grip. I replaced it with a Pachmayr, works well and looks good. Thanks ill look in on them Does yours have grips like mine or are they the Hogue grips that Ruger is putting on them? I plan on replacing the factory grips on mine with a set of Hogue's. |

The factory grips, solid black The ones I meant were the black rubber with rosewood inserts. I'm not sure they even use them anymore. I'm using the Pachmayr Gripper grips: Pachmayr Grippers I prefer the Pachmayrs to the Hogues, they're not as fat in the hand. |

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l77/blonderee/P3050065Medium.jpg LOL! I know the feeling. The first day at the range I shot full-power .357 through it, and after one cylinder my knuckle was skinned and I was bleeding on the bench. The guy next to me was giving me the old look, and at that point I realized no heavy .357 mags without shooting gloves.
