Just got back from getting all four wisdom teeth cut out at the Oral Surgeon !
I had been having lots of problems with one so I just thought I'd get them all cut out ! All these meds make ya kinda dingy..........

Let's just say I'm never having that done again.
Follow the instructions they gave you very carefully. Mine were done 5 days ago and I've avoided dry socket or infection so far by keeping my mouth very, very clean. I walked the ice packs right to my face for the first 2 days and had no bruising. My face is still a little bit sore, but complications WILL SUCK. Good luck friend. |

Mashed potatos and gravy if you can get it. Nothing heated too hot at first though, the heat might open the soutures up. Milkshakes were pretty sweet for Day 1 and Day 2 as well.So is cottage cheese. ETA - Ibuprophen in addition to the RXs you should have should help the swelling too. |

They didnt give me shit when I got mine out 20 years ago. They told me to keep gauze in the sockets to reduce the bleeding and thats it. I ordered a pizza that nite. About the time I took the first bite the nozacaine wore off. Jesus jumpen Christ on a pogo stick was that a mistake. Hot, salty pizza. Holy shit that hurt. I think everyone should experiance multiple tooth extraction with just novacaine. Its quite the experiance in just how barbaric modern medicine can be |

My friend whose dad is a dentist told me I should have bought a lottery ticket. I didn't feel very lucky. I was certain I'd get them. I promised myself I wouldn't put myself through that though, my understanding is that dry sockets are extremely uncomfortable. I had my last cigarette 5 days ago. Seems like it's been an eternity. Wow, looking back at the initial posts I made the day I had that done, I was wacked  I don't even remember posting half that stuff.

i had mine out on the 27th of march.(friday)
i slept for like 15 hours afterwards. had mashed potatoes that first night, some scrambled eggs the next morning. by the next (saturday)night i was eating soft solid food and by sunday i was eating most normal foods as long as they weren't too hard. was fine for 5 days then bam. i guess the surgery finally caught up with my jaw muscles and my lower jaw got all tight. took a week of steady stretching to get my mouth open all the way again. sucked, but i was able to eat anyway. no drysocket for me. just can't wait till the gaping holes fill in. getting the food out of those holes sucks donkey balls. |

have all of mine still the bottom ones are definitlely impacted. I had a cleaning earlier this year - dentist said I need to remove them (no problems) and the .... whatever she was - cleaning lady.... said that since I didn't have any problems, not to worry about them. I say, don't pull em if there's no problem - you might need them later... . |
Had all 4 taken out a few summers ago. That shit sucked. My dad flushed the percocet down the toilet cause he thought I was taking them to get a buzz. Thanks dad.  I don't remember how long it took for those holes to fill back up, but it sucked getting the stitches out. |

One of my wisdom teeth came in at a 45 degree angle and caused lots of problems, so I had to go through a lot of trouble to have it taken out.
I wanted all of the wisdom teeth taken out preemptively, but for some reason nobody wants to do that and I don't know why.
Now I have another wisdom tooth, also coming in at a 45 degree angle like the last one, causing me problems. I've been trying to ignore it for about a year now. I'd pull the tooth myself if it were possible. I tried pulling it once with pliers, but I was unable to grab the tooth due to the tooth being in at an angle. My other two wisdom teeth (in my lower jaw) don't seem to be doing anything, but I don't trust them... Quoted:

I had my top two taken out in high school. I woke up while they were doing the hammer and chisel thing on them. Fuuuuuuk .
Had one of the bottom ones taken out in an Army Field Hospital during Desert Storm. Iraqi POW's were sitting around, watching me while the Army Doc took some kind of metal screwdriver thingy and popped it out. Fuuuuuukkkk.
Got knocked out for the final one, had it taken out while I was getting another tooth taken out that had never made it out of the gum. Woke up as they were stitching the roof of my mouth back together (stitches were between the teeth) Fuuuuuuk

Right, not everybody needs to have them out, but if you do need to and don't, they'll probably decay in there for many years of your life. Not to mention a bunch of other unpleasantries. |

All four of mine were impacted. They put me under, and yanked all four.
I don't remember too much bad about the experience, but then again that was 20 years ago. I do remember that when food gets stuck in the sockets, and then comes out later while brushing or gargling salt water, it'll about make you puke. Nasty!
