Anybody know the name of the line used on some ships that ran from stem to stern, sometimes on the deck.  This was a thick line that tensioned the ship to prevent it from sagging in big seas when the ship had more support in the middle than at the ends (ship on the crest of a big roller)?

Trice up and lay out!

I think the term is 'hogging.'
