| Today was the day for inspecting, counting and replacing desiccant in my ammo cache. Now, I'm not a major ammo accumulator like some on here, but let's just say I have plenty, and in all calibers I use. I actually found some that I think I will sell! (no 5.56 or 7.62x39). I also discovered that I'm going to have to take all the ammo out of the industrial steel 'half-cabinet' and reinforce the shelves. I guess I'll re-paint it while I'm at it. The really fun part was re-discovering some really great ammo, like Norma .30 Carbine from 1957, white cardboard 'battlepacks' of some of the first non-corrosive Russian 7.62x39, Winchester and Lake City M855 that I de-linked and re-packed into bandoliers until I ran out of bandos and just stored them in stripper clips and cardboards, the tracers that were also on those belts, several hundred hand-loaded 7.62x54 150 gr (by the most respected loader in my area), about a case of 62 gr 5.56 by the same guy....then there are the cases of recent stuff - Wolf, Privi, etc. You see, I don't shoot much. I didn't go to the range at all last year, but I have plans to do more shooting this spring. I don't really go to just shoot. I won't go unless I have work to do sighting-in, testing, breaking-in or whatever. Fortunately there is always some of that to do! |
