here is my plan.
I was given a 60" Pioneer Elite Plasma.
I put it in my kids playroom to use with X Box 360 and watch movies.
Now I need to run cable through it.
It does not have a tuner in it so I need something external.
I picked up one of the small government boxes to try since it was only $5 bucks,
you know the one that converts the analog to digital.  Will this work??

ANy help greatly appreciated.

If the tuner box has rca video/audio outputs,  it should work just fine,  assuming the tv has them.  now as for using the remote,  im unsure,  if the tv remote is programmable it may work on the tuner box.   good luck!

yep, but you want to get an hd tuner box for that tv. don't put standard definition into that thing, i don't care if its in your kids room, that's just not right. hell i'll buy it from you and use it for what it was intended for.

If you have cable, a cable box from your provider will do the job.  It will use HDMI (you may need an HDMI-to-DVI converter plus audio cables) or component (5 wires) to get the signal into the TV.

You will have to get a box from your cable company or one of the cable card ready boxes that are coming out soon.  The DTV converter box you bought was designed to take over the air digital signals and convert them to baseband video or analog RF.  The ones I have seen thus far will not accept a cable input.

Either get a cable box from your provider or use a VCR for basic cable.  (they have built in tuners).

LOL..I get this alot.  It is nice to play x box 360 and watch movies on that screen.  The kids made out good on this one.

I have a nice 55" sony in my Family room that fits the room and as already set up.
One of my accounts that I sell booze to gave it to me.  The owner was killed and his partner asked me if I wanted a TV.
When I went to pick it up I had no idea what he was giving me.  I expected a 30-35" TV, but this guy only purchased the best.
He had his satelite and home security all hooked up to this and it was awesome.

Thanks for the help,

Yes, if it has video outputs that match the inputs of your Pioneer.  HDMI, or RCA style digital, or RGB to same.
