How do you guys like these? Any problems? Opinions?

Best pump-action combat shotgun on the market today, IMO.  I wouldn't call $470 a great deal, but's it's ok.  If I was in the market for one I would buy it at that price, but would try to talk them down a bit first.  They aren't exactly all that easy to find.  Took me a while to find mine.  I think I paid $425 for it about a year ago.

Not a steal but I would pick it up at that price, its what they go for around here these days

I really like mine. That price is about what I paid a couple years ago, so I have to guess it's a fair, or better price for one today.

I paid about $420 out the door last December.

Is that an out the door price?

I just ordered the 9 shot with Ghost Ring sights for about the same price. Waiting for the call....

Is gun like the old JC Higgins pump? The receiver looks like it's the same.

What makes the 590 better than an 870 with ghost rings?

Last 870 I took apart seemed to have a lot more plastic parts than my A1. I also like the factory tube that can hold more shells

I like them, I want one. I would try to get the price down a little first, though.

Indeed, eh?  Only two things I'd  buy these days from them is a 700 or M40.  Those are fine, for the most part.  Seems the shotty division has gone to hell.

i really like mine... up until it broke.

I have had this shotgun about 2 weeks and less then 100 shells through it when it broke.

the threads that the collar threads onto to hold the handguard onto the pump action were seriously jacked up.  I mean i could see day light between the threads.

it took me close to 2 weeks to get ahold of mossbergs customer service, the wait to talk to someone was always over 30 min and i am at work before they open and at work when they close, so waiting til after work was a no go.

Email - tried that but no response

Finally got off work early one day and got ahold on someone right as they were closing, and of course they said the would fix it but i had to send the pump action in for them to fix or buy a new one. When i asked waht about them sending the new part they said those were my only 2 options take em or leave em.

I have yet to send it out as my i have other shotguns that i can use in the mean time.

I paid 300$ for mine in '03, but it is the regular 590 which means plastic trigger and safety.  It has the regular bead sight also.  I was thinking about trading for the same exact model you have pictured but now I'll just sell it for what I paid for it.  I prefer the 590 to the 870, but now that I'm a more experienced gun owner I now realize I have no need for a shotgun.  I've only been able to shoot it once, almost every range I go to has a "slugs only" policy.  It just sits so I think its time to liquidate my 1 shotgun and all of my 00 buck.

I wish I got a 590 instead of a 500 persuader. The 500 is not parkerized and it only has a bead sight, plus the sling attachment is all the way at the end of the mag tube(kind of a pain sometimes). Other than those things I really like the gun. Never had any problems with it.

Have the 590 with ghost ring sights and ramped combat front sight. Thinking of selling mine as well.

$470?????????   I say no.

Was a time no too long ago when any "decent" pump gun only cost about $300.

470 seems a little steep to me.

I got my first one in 1993, I think I got it for $300. Parkerized, without ghost rings. I like the 590 because it seems like it was made for taller people, the 870 has a shoter reach for the pump. The only realy advantage the 870 has is the safety location if you want to put a pistol grip on it. With a standard stock the 590 has the advantage. The 870 can also be customized more easily, which is something the 590 doesn't seem to need.

590's are hard to get right now thanks to the extra demand from Obama.  You could wait and maybe get one cheaper later on, but if you really want it now who cares if it is $50 more than what you might usually pay for one.  With the coming inflation  people are predicting, in a year or two $475 might be  a great deal.
