I was just curious about what kind of sentiment our troops are receiving in Iraq.  Obviously the media would have us think that the Iraqis hate us and want us out, but I would like to get some first hand accounts if possible.  I know we have quite a few members over there now as well as veterans ( thanks for your service!), and I know we have a few contractors that are/were over there too.  Let's hear some of your perspective on what the Iraqis think of us being over there. Thanks!

I have seen nothing but enthusiasm from the adult Iraqis for the fact that we are helping them. Of course there are a few here and there that hate us ( mostly young adults and kids). But for the most part they are very thankful for everything we do. Its not like it was when we first came here. We are much more soft handed when it comes to many aspects of dealing with the public. We dont shoot cars for not yeilding, we simple wave a flag or honk our horns at them. We dont open fire when fired upon , we have to see exactly who is shooting and if it wont hurt anyone else before we return fire.
The public see these things and are more receptive because of it. I talk to the Iraqi Army and the Iraqi Police on a daily basis and consider myself friend with many of them. We eat their food and share stories of our familys. they give us gifts and we do the same in return.
I know its not this way everywhere here but it sure seems like we're making progress to me.

Really depends on the neighborhood.

And it has improved in the last few years.

Thanks Furious, that's what I kind of had in mind from other posts that I have read, just wanted to see if I was correct or I had just read the few posts of those who had good experiences.
