Obama admits: Attack on US soil likely
Wed, 01 Apr 2009 14:58:59 GMT President Barack Obama admits that al-Qaeda network is planning fresh raids on the United States from the militants' safe havens in Pakistan. Obama said Wednesday the US would chase and defeat the terrorist organization wherever it is present in the world. Pakistan and Afghanistan would not be allowed to become a safe haven for al-Qaeda and its allied groups, the US president said while addressing a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown in London. Obama's remarks followed a threat by Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leader Baitullah Mehsud, who said his group was planning a terrorist attack on the US to 'amaze' the world. "Soon we will launch an attack in Washington that will amaze everyone in the world," Baitullah Mehsud said Tuesday, giving no further details. US intelligence officials are increasingly concerned that Mehsud could eclipse even Osama bin Laden as a threat to America. Obama further urged Pakistan to demonstrate its commitment to rooting out al-Qaeda and Taliban along its troubled border with Afghanistan. The US president had earlier unveiled a new strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, saying the top goal was to destroy al-Qaeda. "Al Qaeda and its allies are cancer that risks killing Pakistan From within," said Obama on Friday The warnings come after multiple intelligence estimates warned that al-Qaeda is actively planning attacks on the US homeland from its safe-haven in the violence-hit Pakistan. Al-Qaeda's top leaders are believed to be hiding in tribal areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where their Taliban allies have strongholds. The insurgents have regrouped in the tribal areas after a US-led invasion in late 2001 toppled the Taliban in Afghanistan and sent militants to border areas with Pakistan. American officials say the mountains along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border threaten the US and its western allies' security in the western countries. On September 11, 2001 a series of attacks were launched on New York and the pentagon by suspected al-Qaeda insurgents, killing 2,973 people. http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=90190 |

Well, he's right. And it would've been likely if McCain won, or if GWB was still in office. They're gonna get through again eventually. And that's why George preferred to kill them in other places like Iraq and Afghanistan, and kept them locked up in GITMO. This idiot they call POTUS will let them come here. He won't even admit there is a war on terror. He will release those who hate America here, amongst us, and pay them benefits. He IS part of the problem, not part of the solution. Stating the obvious does not change that. |

True, but with both mccain and bush, other than not securing our border, you could say they were doing everything humanly possible to stop the attacks. Not so much with obama. |

My point was that "Obama admits attack on U.S. soil likely" is neither groundbreaking nor an indictment of Obama. I think it's MORE likely with Obongo in charge, but it was likely no matter who is in the White House. I would say it was "possible" with the GWB administration in charge, I would say it is "Likely" with Obongo in charge. Just my take. |

He wants to show the world that he / Democrats can handle such adversity better than Bush did. A lot of truth, here. I recently read a op-ed piece in one of the London papers on how Obama has shown restraint by not invading any countries during his first few days in office.

This is true, with his actions in just the past 73 days, he's made us less safe. If he's able to continue with his agenda, we'll most certainly be hit here on the continent, and at that point, the only good that will come of that will be that the mid terms will be ours and likely the WH in 2012, although it will be a big price to pay! that we wouldn't have had to if the Messiah wasn't such a worthless piece of shit.

Quoted: I wish they would attack us with guns instead of explosives... I am a big fan of shooting back. Half the time these pansies just blow themselves up... nothing to shoot back at. And it won't matter if the guns still have price tags on them in Chinese with receipts written by Mao himself from the grave, if they use guns it will result in a ban of all guns in America. |

I've never heard this before. The United States Government would never use fear to influence the people's attitutes towards its agenda.
We are never be completely safe. But don't worry, big government will protect us. Just let them search all your bags on public transportation for no reason. Let them listen in on all your conversations. Close the "gun show loophole" so terrorists can't shoot down airplanes with .50 caliber weapons of war. I am so sick of this shit. There is always the threat of terrorist attack. There is ALMOST NOTHING we can do about it. The CIA and FBI are supposed to be spying/infiltrating. Instead, we create new government agencies, surrender our civil liberties and bury our heads in the sand. |

Yep. We may end up losing a city or two as a result of the nov election. That is what the American people voted for, change. Well two giant smoking craters where US cities used to be would be a change |

When Bush toppled TWO Muslim regimes, the businessmen in EVERY Muslim country realized they could lose EVERYTHING if even ONE more attack took place on US soil.
Bush held Al Qaeda at bay by strangling their logistics and financial support. I'm not sure even Bush himself understood why Al Qaeda didn't attack here after 9/11. I doubt Barack HUSSEIN Obama would go after Al Qaeda in the same way, and I doubt Al Qaeda fears HUSSEIN near as much as they feared Bush. I didn't elect him. I voted against him, even though I knew McCain had run a lackluster campaign and had little chance of winning. In essence, I voted for Palin. I'm about 100% sure Al Qaeda will not attack a lonely rural farmhouse. Some of YOU are at high risk, and you best get ready for whatever Al Qaeda plan to do. If Obama turns tail after an Al Qaeda attack, the way Clinton took the cowards way out of Mogadishu, Al Qaeda will attack here again and again, until a strong US President RE-ESTABLISHES the deterrent Bush brought online. |

Thanks for letting us know, as if we didn't already know that. Now where is your birth certificate?
Not to worry folks, not to worry. There will be no terrorist attacks on US soil. Now, a series of "man made catastrophes" cased by participants in the "global contingency operation", well, that's another story. |
