I found out and posted this morning that I found out from my ROTC program that I've got an Air Assault slot this summer. It's locked in, I haven't gotten the orders yet, but it's mine for the taking. Then this evening, my LT pulled me and a friend aside (who has an AA slot as well) and said there's a possibility one of us could go to Sapper school. I would fucking love to go to Sapper school.
The only thing is that first of all, it's between me and the other guy as to who gets it here at my school. If I were the one chosen, I would then be put up against other candidates from other schools in the brigade. Our brigade only gets one slot and we know nothing about anyone else who wants to go. On top of that, there's also a possibility of them revoking our brigade slot at the last minute. So basically I'm struggling with the decision between having a possible shot at Sapper school, however slim it may be, and a guaranteed Air Assault slot. I don't have any prior service, I'm not SMP, I don't say it to pump myself up but I'm one of the more squared away guys in my class, but I still wonder how great of a chance I'd have of passing and getting my tab. I'm more leaning towards AA right now, and then trying to get a Sapper slot when I commission, but commissioning with a Sapper tab would be pretty badass. What do you guys think? |
