I know a lot of y'all have ordered from the CMP so I figure I could get an answer here. I'm filling out the Universal Order Form and on page 2A at the very bottom in a blue box it has blanks to fill in for "State, County/City, Sworn to and subscribed on date, Notary Public, and Commision expiration." Are these for someone else to fill in or what? I've searched around but can't find anything about it.

Thank you. I've never had to have anything notarized before so could you help out with what to do. Just go to the bank and ask a teller if a Notary is around?

Yep.

Law offices often have notaries around too.

I think you must sign the paperwork in their presence.

Sounds good. Thanks guys. Will I have to explain to the Notary that I'm buying a firearm and all or will we both just sign pretty much no questions asked and be on our way?

My bank will notarize a document for free. Also the UPS Store will do it for a fee. I think they charge $7.

The notary will not usually care. All he is certifying is that the document was signed in his presence.

ETA: Also, if you are an apartment renter, check with the rental office. There is usally a free notary service available.

All the notary needs is to see you sign the document in their presence and look at your drivers license to make sure you're the person signing the document. They don't care what the document is about.

Thanks a million fellas. I'm gonna go give the bank a try in a few minutes here.

Thanks for the suggestion Brian but I'm way out yonder here in Western Maryland in Allegany County. How about yourself?
