Agreed, but its not a word, just a hesitation device that is way overused and we are all being dumbed down by the ridiculous amount of its usage on tv.

My personal favorite is, "huh?"  Seems everytime I ask someone a question, knowing damn well it was loud and clear, they always respond with a "huh?"

My current pet peeve is someone who says "Okay?" at the end of every sentence.  This one guy did it EVERY fucking time.  So I started saying "Okay" back to him every time he'd finish a sentence with "Okay?".  After about 5 times he said "Why do you keep saying "Okay" to me".  The maroon doesn't even realize he does it.  I said "I don't know, I must have picked it up somewhere".  My SO punched me in the short ribs.  She was about to start busting laughing.

I used to do it until I took Toastmasters.  We were fined 25 cents for every "umm" or "uhh."  Now I notice when people do it and I wish I could fine them.

I googled "UMM" on google image, this is the first thing that came up:

I guess it fits...

I agree. You can almost predict everytime they are going to say it. I also hate when they start to speak a word and the start all over and say the whole word. Also "ah" is another annoyance.
