Got myself a subscription (well, trying it free for a week). How do i know if a movie has been shipped out to me? I have movies queued up and ready to rock. They automatically start shipping?

I always get an email for each movie shipped. You can also see what has been shipped in your queue

They start shipping in order of how you have them.

I get email notifications, and they also will say when you log in what has shipped and what has been returned.

It should say in your queue on netflix.com if they've been shipped.  You can also put the email settings to alert you when they've shipped.

You can also watch some online with the "watch instantly" tab. Not all the movies are there, but it's fun anyway.

i really like netflix "watch instantly" feature.

i hook up my hdtv to my laptop and then watch the movie on a 36 inch screen, and the video quality is pretty decent since they upgraded thier movie player.

What resolution is that?  Is there any way to tell?

I don't get emails from them but it says on the main page when you login what has been shipped.

netflix is sweet, so much cheaper than renting from a video store...  If you got xbox 360, they have a lot of movies that you can watch over xbox live.

It also depends on what you are watching. They are starting to build an HD section in watch instantly. If you have a decent internet connection the standard def ones are pretty much indistinguishable from DVDs.
