I'm thinking about going for the April one and just want to see if anybody else has been and if they think it is worth going to.  I hear this year is going to have more blading at 45 degrees and the possibility of Sweeping the Leg is Strong to Quite Strong.

I've been going off and on since 1989.  It's a hoot.

I'll be there. Ocotber was pretty crazy, lots of politicians preaching about the gun grabbers
trying to get you to vote for them. Last april was cancelled and the april before that was so
fucking muddy I almost buried my pathfinder. I hope it stays dry this year. BTW, my ETA is close
to 7am on saterday.

Hella + a little bumpage    Guess I'm sold on going,  we need to get a thread up closer to April to see who's going.  I'll be flying solo as the s/o is not down for a Kentucky good ol' boy machine gun shoot and I need some guys to drink with on that Saturday night.

Edit: let me clarify.... if you don't own full auto, and don't want to buy fill auto.... any reason to go?

Can't believe how well off some of those folks are. We're talking about people with enough cash to fire $9 rounds down range in the thousands through firearms that cost more than some folks make in a year.

You can rent time behind some the most amazing firearms you'll ever see in your life. Plus, I'm not sure if they are still doing this, but they rent out time with flame throwers ok....flame throwers. Plus, there tend to be a lot of dealers there that sell more than just full auto.

I went there once, that was enough. It's a bunch of guys blasting MGs into the dirt 50' in front of them, and a gun show with inflated prices on most everything.  I'm glad I went, but wont go back.

Yes.  Tons of ammo for sale.  Tons of parts for all assualt rifles.  It will take you half the day to walk and look at every table, just once, at the gun show.  The main show is in a poll barn that is at least 100 yards long and then there is the venders in the big tents selling ammo off skids or out of the back of a shipping container.  If you come you will be glad you did.  The show is not all about full auto stuff.  The firing line is and is fun to watch the first time you go, but when you see the barn with all the venders you will be in hog heaven

Interesting gun show with a great soundtrack.

That's true.  You do get to see a lot of neat stuff though that many folks probably haven't seen or heard before though.

I hear ya on the dirtshooters and 8" barrel 1919's and all that BS.  I don't watch the shooting line hardly at all anymore as you can't even get to the fence to spectate, but back when I did.... occasionally you would see really cool stuff, like an oldtimer with a 1919A6 walking a metal can from about 25 yards all the way to the back of the range with 3-4 round bursts.  50 round burst of .50 API into a target car was pretty impressive too.  And not many other places outside the mil to enjoy the soothing tones of the GE minigun.

You only went once. You just really never know about the show and what you'll find there. Some years I left empty handed, some years I left with the truck bed loaded. <shrug>

I can predict that you probably won't find any ammo deals this year though.

Absolutely, I went for the first time last fall and WILL be back again.  To be honest, I didn't spend a whole lot of time at the firing line.  Instead, I spent much of the time wandering through the pole barn and other vendors.  There were lots of stuff to see and instead of being a "normal" gun show where it is 90% "Fudd" and 10% "EBR, this show is reversed.  Manufacturers, parts dealers (just about any parts kit you can think of), mil-surp dealers, and gun dealers are there.  Need a repro Gatling Gun?  Sign right here?  Rifles?  Yep, they had them there.  IIRC (and some one please correct me if I have this wrong), the KY law is that it is okay to buy a rifles and shotguns if you are out of state, but you will need a FFL transfer for handguns.   Ammo?  people were buying them by the Mule [the M274 kind] load; just flag one down and ask how much they charge for a lift.

Oh yeah, the background "soundtrack" is wonderful and you'll meet some of the nicest people particularly for an event as crowded as that one is.

I have been there once, more or less because I consider it as an event that should be on the agenda of every serious firearms aficionado. I happened to be within an 8 hour drive or so with nothing to do and made a spur of the moment decision to attend.

FWIW: I bought a machinegun for pretty much the same reason. I couldn't take my gun collection seriously without owning one. I had fired many machineguns prior to owning one and didn't really get much of a kick out of it, so it was no surprise that mine almost never leaves the safe. So, long story even longer, I personally have almost no interest in machineguns and quite honestly didn't get any big thrill out of watching the shooting. They did have a great flea market (gun show or whatever it is called) where I spent money hand over fist. I am nterested in NFA weapons and was really stoked to meet a lot of the well known players in suppressors.

I got yupped into going for the 1st time this weekend.

I'm not real sure I will enjoy it though... I'm a new NFA owner, and have been to BulletFest prior to getting my subgun. Given that I can shoot anything at Bulletfest, but can only get close enough to the firing line to smell smoke at Knob Creek I'm already left a little wanting. I would't mind doing the Jungle Walk and subgun competition, but I shudder to think what it would cost given how Expen$ive everything else at the creek is. I'm working 32 hours a week right now and can't afford to go to local gunshows, I can't think there would be much at KC that I could afford.

I've shot the pistol match an the assualt rifle match there before. Both were fun, but burned the whole day.
