| Normally on a ball cap there's a little metal button at that same location. It's purpose is to reinforce all the seams that come together there. Under a set of over-the-head ear protection that little button rubs on your scalp and after awhile becomes highly irritating. The velcro patch provides the same reinforcement without the irritation. And provides a place to put whatever you want there. I wouldn't put anything there myself, it would defeat the purpose. |

From the Tactical Tailor website: Authentic Crye Precision Multicam item. Classic ball cap styling with tactical improvements. The metal rivet on top has been removed and replaced with Velcro for comfort while wearing communication headsets. The underside of the brim lined with a black, low glare Velcro receptive material and the front features a large Velcro panel. Available in Multicam only. Since I don't wear comm headsets but do wear over the head hearing protection, I understand the purpose. Putting something on that patch of velcro would create another lump that would become irritating over time. If you're looking for a place to put IFF markings you have velcro front and rear for glint tape. |
