Hey I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to retrieve a gun from the bottom of a pond with out having to go swim for it.
My friends mom threw his dads gun in his pond and said if I can get it out i can have it.
Any suggestions?

Hope.

If it can rescue America, it can rescue sunken treasures too, right?

.......right?

Never mind.

Agreed.  With as many boating accidents as have been going on lately, I got one of these to try my luck.

From what I keep reading about in the news if you take some innocent person and tie them up at the ponds edge the gun will crawl out itself just to shoot them. Medias always going on and on about guns killing people.

[#16]
what kind of gun???? is it even worth the trouble?
3/6/2009 11:26:56 AM EDT
[#17]

This is what I was thinking.

SCUBA would be another option.

How deep is this pond? What type of gun?  How long has it been in the water?

Is this thread about trolling?

Literally?

The water is only about 6' deep the problem is its in a pond that doesnt flow a whole lot of water and it was about
2 feet of leaves in it which makes it almost impossible to sweep a magnet across the bottom. And I already went swimming for about half an hour
and found nothing its about 45 degrees
3/6/2009 11:34:49 AM EDT
[#20]
Oh and its only a bersa 380 worth about $300 but I figured what the heck lol

Sure this isn't a wild goose chase just for her to get some laughs watching you drudge that pond all day long

No she was drunk and they got in a fight and she hates guns so she stole it and threw it in the pond.

how big is this pond?

are we talking greater than 100 yards wide

I thought you were wrong about the $300 price tag on the Bersa. I bought mine at a pawn shop a couple of years ago w/4 mags for $150. Then I looked at gunbroker.

I'd go swimming for it. What kind of gun is it?

Attach the rope to your friends mom, have her hold the magnet, push her in the pond till she picks it up with the magnet then pull her in.

just wait till he spends all day fishing around with the magnet and comes to find out the gun is stainless

60x40x5, its the size of a large garage and only 5 ft deep?

buy a 8" diameter PVC pipe about 4ft long. $15

get a roll of clear celophane. wrap it tight at the bottom and make sure the "ends" are either watertight or at the top.

get a bright flashlight.

as you walk in the water, shine the flash light into the pipe, and as long as water doesnt get into the pipe, you can see the bottom.

only the bottm of the pipe needs to have the clear celophane, the top is open.

My buddy has a 10" diameter one he made with clear plastic, for when he drops shit while fly fishing.

seriously man, i would not bother for a bersa 380 that is sitting at the bottom of a pond.

now a corrosion resistant ceramic glock on the other hand... those cost more than you make in a month.

Most "stainless" guns are forged from a 400 series stainless steel, which will be attracted to a magnet just fine.

You need to use little kids for that to work.

How big is the pond, and what gun is it?
Colt 6920 in a swimming pool sized pond, I'll do whatever it takes to get it.  Raven .25 pistol in a small lake, fuck it.

+1 for neodymium magnet and string.

40'x60'?

That's not a pond, that's a puddle.

Order some SCUBA gear... a basic set up will cost you around $550 for everything.

Then a certification class should run you about $250.

After that, you shouldn't have much trouble finding the pistol.

You gotta spend money to make money.
