If you really wanted a G19 but the only one avaliable was a G19C and they wouldn't have any regular G19's in till July, would you go ahead and buy it?

Yes. I'd rather have the regular version though.

I've fired a couple "C" model Glocks and didn't like the flash that comes through the top of the slide. For a defensive weapon, I think the flash would be very undesirable. Why not just replace the barrel with an unvented one?

A bad choice for concealed carry due to the flash created by the C model.  This should be considered an outdoor gun only. IMHO

Pick up the C and then pick up an aftermarket 19 barrel.  Gives you a lighter gun since the slide is chopped,  an oppertunity to upgrade the barrel and you can call it a mini 34.

No, I'd try to hunt around for a used G19 instead.

Sure.  I have a G19C.  It's great, and if you don't want to shoot it ported you can replace the barrel & have both options.

Yep, I did this with my 23C.

I have one and love it..I carry it every day..

Buy it.  If you use the right ammo, you don't have to worry about flash anyway.  I have a G17c, and I have fired it at night multiple times.  I live in the country, so I can shoot whenever I want.  I use WWB and flash is not an issue.  Most people who say the flash will blind you have never fired a c model at night, or when they have it was with just one kind of ammo.  From my G17c Rem.  UMC does "flash" quite brightly,  WWB does not.

I think that I'd just read somewhere that some Israeli unit uses G19C's.

What is the weight difference between the G19 and G19C?

[#12]
No!

The 19C offers no real advantages over a stock 19.  In fact, it will be less useful at night.

ETA:  Hard to believe a G19 can't be had 'til July.

I am tempted to trade my G17 in for a 19c.

I've got

G26
G19
G19
G17
G34

..

eta:  I had a hard time finding the 17, I got it about a month ago.  I called damn near everywhere within a 200 mile radius and ended up having to take a 5 hour round trip to get it.

I'd buy the 19c. I own a 17c and I have no issue firing it indoors.

The 19C is the cats ass.  The 9mm is already an easy round to shoot, put a comp on it and muzzle doesnt rise at all.  Its almost like cheating.  All these people who are complaining about muzzle flash have no idea what they are talking about.  Having been in a shoothouse numerous times and using both a 17 and a 17c among 19's 19c's, 22's 23's 21s 21c's etc etc the person who says that in an active shooting engaging targets enviroment can tell the difference in muzzle flashes is an absolute liar.

What year did the 19C first come out? I've shot the G17, G19, G34 and I prefer the early first generation G19 and 2nd generation G17. I don't like the finger grooves on the latest models?

How does the G19C compare to a M&P(C) or a CZ compact?

I had a 23C.....good idea for muzzle control, but bad idea for carry.....traded it for a regular 23.

i have a glock 22 c and i don't think there's a  big difference from the flash coming out of the top of the bbl to one that's not.

if your shooting in pitch black, the flash from an uncompensated bbl will screw up your night vision as much as a compensated bbl.

and ive shot at night from both types.

the only difference i noticed is that the "c" models are a little bit louder than the non "c" models.

either way it's your money, get what you want.
