Just upgraded from 5mb to 10mb cable. I'm wondering what the best bandwidth test out there might be. Hook it up Arfcom.

15/5 FiOS to the shitty San Diego server.  The LA server has a 10-12ms ping, but its down for some reason.

This is WITH me downloading something off of Usenet right now,

I am one of the few that actually love Comcast.  They recently upgraded my area to Docsis 3.0 and you better believe, i went out and bought (online) a Motorola SB6120.  Internet is one of the few things i have zero problems paying a premium price for.

Depends on where you live and what modem you have.  Here in the Seattle area, Comcast deployed Docsis 3.0 which means faster internet up to 50mbps with the appropriate modem.  Before i got my new modem, i was pulling with nothing else in the background using my internet connection about 18-22mbps with powerboost.

Now with my new modem, i can hit this which is my highest so far:.

Granted it was the dead of night and my upload speed sucks but i'll take it.

You need to divide by 8 to get bytes.

1000 Kb/s = 1 Mb/s = 125 KB/s

I believe 1024 kb is 1 mb. What I learned in my Sisco class, IIRC.

even across the country i get good speeds

for this area, my speeds are phenomenal, this is for regular old comcast high speed internet, not burst! or any of their higher end packages...

this is typical during peak hours... i will hit 32Mbit or more down and 4-5Mbit up during offhours...

Cox Cable, New Orleans server.
15207 down, 2769 up

ETA: some of those speeds in the N.W area
are fast as hell. That is more like it. I dont know
what your paying, but it cant be (much) more than
the $43.00 month I am paying. Cable in the U.S. is not
as cost effective as Japan/Euro (some).
