I need a small 12V compressor for filling tires.
There seems to be a ton of them in the $10-$35 price range.

Can anyone recommend a good one.
Recommendations of what to avoid help too.

Thanks.

I too have been shopping for one of these in that price range. What I've seen so far, there hasn't been too much difference in quality.

I think I'll look at two criteria: length of warranty & highest rated motor amperage. Highest on both wins.

They are disposable in that price range.

I have had the same cheapo ($30) unit for 7 or 8 years, including a 6 month stretch when I aired up that one leaky tire every day.

This MF'er  is a great little compressor:MV50

It's available different places at around $60.  It does not plug into the cigarette lighter, it clips directly to the battery and draws about 25 amps.

+1

The MV50 is a monster.  There is an entire thread at Jeep Forum going back a couple years singing the praises of this compressor.  I have mine mounted under hood and it airs up four 33" tires from 10psi to 28psi in just a few minutes.  The only thing better is a York On Board Air set up.  I bought my MV50 at the local auto parts store for $29.

I use mine for the same exact thing, except mine is kept in the back of the Jeep.
