Have you ever thought you felt your phone ring, actually buzz when on vibrate, only to answer it and find that it was not buzzing?

I have had this happen several times and I have had it happen when my phone was not in my pocket.

Sure does.  Happens all the time.

I first noticed it in the 90's with a pager actually.  There was a scientific paper about it too.  Bet it got a ton of government money, because that's important stuff right there

I carry mine in my right front pocket, but get the vibration feeling in my left front pocket.  Drives me fucking nutz because I'm on call 24-7-365.

Me too till my dad said something about it.  He keeps his in his shirt pocket and was digging through his pocket only to find out the phone was on the table.
