I just got a computer with Vista. My old computer was XP. I have a Lynksys WUSB54G wireless network adapter and I cannot get it to work on Vista. I have been trying all day to get some Vista drivers for it but apparently Lynksys doesn't give a shit about Vista. So my questions are:
What is a good wireless network adapter that works reliably with Vista? I want one that uses a USB port, I don't want to have to use a PCI slot. Can a Wireles router be used with a wireless network adapter of a different brand name? My router is Wireless-G. Do I have to get a wireless G adapter? Thanks, Nic4433 |
Someone else is going through this besides me.  I just installed a Belkin and net gear adapter because Vista keeps erasing my built in wireless adapter software . I'm using the Linksys router with the two. Go to Linksys and download the software and use there drivers.

I don't know how computer literate you are but, you could always pick up an extra wireless router like the linksys wrt54g and load a 3rd party firmware on it (dd-wrt, etc.). Then you could just set it up in clent bridge mode with your regular wireless so that all you have to do is plug your computer in with a regular network cable. No drivers needed on your computer. I do this since I tend to try out a lot of linux distros and I don't have an internet connection in the room that my computer is located. Just hit search google for wireles bridge and you should find all the info you need. Of course you could also just buy a wireless bridge. |
