My Kenmore frige has a switch that goes from 1 to 7.

Which is the coldest setting?

I dont have one..

I have a Fridge though if thats what you meant.  

And the dial usually says which way is the coldest.. I think 7, Im not getting up to check though.

Refrigerator - no "d".

and the dial doesn't say anything, just 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

put a glass of water near the back, and turn it to either 1 or 7.  if the glass freezes, that is the cold setting.  if it stays liquid, it's the not-as-cold setting

This would require me to experiment and provide analysis.

Both of which I am opposed to in my current state.

Higher's probably colder.

ETA-I have a Kenmore fridge, it says 7 is the coldest.

The most logical arrangement would be higher number = colder temperature...which means that it's probably the exact opposite on brands headquartered in Europe...

(Ever notice how they like to put the "Off" position at the TOP of the power switch on products that are sold internationally? )

7 is the coldest. You should keep the Fridge at no higher than 40 and the freezer at 0 to 10 degrees.
